"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

Mustard
My son Thaddeus loves mustard. We aren't talking just on his sandwiches. He aske for the honey mustard dressing to dip his carrots in, asks for mustard when we have salad and will eat the bologna first and then finish the bread that just has mustard on it. I am not sure where he came from!
Today he learned how to "read". We have a book called, "One Rainy Day". The words follow the pictures exactly and just describe what the baby duck is seeing, pink worms, black bugs, etc. and he can "read" it all by himself. He was so pleased with himself I had to listen to him read it 5 times!

Temple
We had the wonderful opportunity to attend the temple Saturday. Usually it consists of waking up early, packing the van with everything but the kitchen sink, driving 2.5 hours to Spokane, spending 5 hours there, trading kids, attending 2 separate sessions all alone and then driving the 2.5 hours home with kids who are pretty tired of being on the road. But, yesterday some friends who moved up to Spokane last year watched them for us while we attended the SAME session! It was heaven! We were still gone a long time, but our children were pretty happy because they were able to play and play instead of sit and wait for mom or dad in the temple. To anyone who lives closer to a temple, take advantage of it!
While in the session there ended up more women than men. To remedy the problem they pulled out some folding chairs. When myself and another sister ended up with them we started opening them up to sit in and one of the brethren working in the temple quickly came over and said, "Let me do that." Some women would be offended, I took it as a great compliment. How often are doors opened for you anymore? How often do men stand up when you enter a room? I quite like being respected so much that a man doesn't want me to have to open my own folding chair!

Grace finally lost her second front tooth. (the adult tooth already started growing in behind it)
For valentine's we received stickers from Grandma. I put Madelyn's all over her face, she didn't even notice, or care.

Control
I am a person who likes to be in control, maybe a little too much. I like to know everything, I like to have everything planned out, I like to have money saved for a rainy day, I like my children to obey everything I say (don't roll your eyes at me, I know you would like that to!) I was thinking about this problem the other day and I realized I am never in control. Even the times I think I am in control, even if my children did everything I asked and I had everything always planned out and a million dollars in the bank. My Heavenly Father can take all of my well laid plans and destroy them in less time it takes for me to blink. He will do whatever He wants with my life. So, I guess in a weird sort of way, to be in control of my life, I actually have to give Him control.
Don't take this to mean that I am through with planning and preparing. I will continue to save, we will continue to stay out of debt, we will put away for retirement, we will take good care of what we have been given, I will continue to boss my children around. I just hope I can be better at giving Him the ultimate control for my life. After all, He knows best! Maybe I won't worry so much!

This week....
We watched many cars go by our front window,
We made animals out of play-dough.
We did a word search with dad (and actually helped, a little).
And, we fell asleep before bedtime.
The other day at the table we were discussing babies and Thaddeus told me to eat a lot of black food so I would have a black baby.(someday, not within the next 10 months) Then he told me to eat both white and black and we could have one of each. Isn't innocence wonderful. Mabye next time I am pregnant I'll eat a lot of pink food and tell him our baby is going to be pink!
