"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

The New Life of Thaddeus

Exciting isn't it! 2 weeks ago, Saturday night, our children were jumping from some chairs leftover from a 'tent' to the couch (not more than 6 inches apart) Well, unfortunately one of the chairs swivels and he stepped off and the chair swiveled under him and he gave himself a spiral fracture in his right femur. We spend a night and a day in the hospital and now have been home for almost 2 weeks. He is a trooper though. In the picture he is crying but only because he wanted the camera :) He is off pain medication completely and loves to army crawl all over the floor. Life is actually pretty good. Until Dad gets home and all Thaddeus wants to do is be held by him :) Poor Dad!

They call it a 1 1/2 spica hip cast. He gets to keep it on for 6 weeks max so we are already 1/3 of the way there!!! Sorry for never updating this thing. But, no promises to get better! ;) I do read everyone else's when I get the chance though!

WOW!! That doesn't look fun at all! I'm sorry he has to deal with that. I'm sorry YOU have to deal with that!

Poor kid! Hope he heals fast! It's all about being a boy right? I heard a song by Brad Pasely the other day, that mentions boys spend every summer in a cast :) Hopefully that isn't entirely true!

CA-RAZY!!! How do you even change a diaper in that?! That's the first thing that came to my mind...after "Oh my goodness, how terrible!" Lucy says, "I hope you get better soon!"

OH, the poor boy! But it sounds like he looks more upset in the pictures than he really is. I hope that is still the case! Hope you are well!

Oh my word. That looks very uncomfortable! Way to make it this far! I also was wondering about how the diaper changes work?

Darn, poor guy! Sounds like he is resilient and able to get around a little by army-crawling. Other than this, I hope all else is going well!

Wow! And I thought Samuel's full leg cast last summer was bad. Glad he has it over with now!
